Initial situation
The dispatch area in the PAC and the associated import warehouse of Wolfgang Denzel Auto AG in Vienna was getting on in years. The existing packing tables - standard off-the-shelf solutions - were neither ergonomic nor suited to the newly defined processes.
„Our processes had evolved, but the workstations remained the same,“ describes Manuel Cerny, logistics manager at Denzel Auto AG, explains the initial situation.
„Many steps were unnecessary, some routes were too long, and overall the process was too fragmented to remain efficient in the long term.“
With the imminent modernisation of the internal conveyor technology, the desire arose to rethink the packing area as well. Functional, customisable and ergonomically designed.
Objective
The goal was clear:
A workstation system that is Seamlessly integrated into the existing conveyor technology, relieves the employees and Simplified processes throughout the working day.
At the same time, the solution should be modular enough to Subsequent adjustments at any time - without costly conversions or downtime.
The search was not for a piece of furniture, but for a Sophisticated system solution, that harmonises ergonomics, order and material flow.
Decision in favour of NeoLog
„I travelled around the market and looked at a few suppliers,“ says Manuel Cerny.
„Many solutions looked the same - until NeoLog came into play. It was like a ‚positive black sheep‘ among all the white ones: innovative, flexible, practical. With NeoLog's modular system and technical expertise, we were able to find a well thought-out, realisable solution extremely quickly.“
Not only the technology was convincing, but also the cooperation.
„Whether it's management, technology or scheduling - you realise that you're working with a team here that takes ideas seriously and thinks ahead.“
Planning and realisation
From the first meeting to the final realisation, everything went smoothly. Smooth and target-orientated.
The planning was carried out directly on the basis of the actual processes - with particular attention paid to ergonomics, material access, lighting and throughput times.
All special requests were taken on board and integrated into the design.
„Communication was professional at all times,“ emphasises Cerny. „You always had the feeling that things were progressing. It wasn't a classic supplier relationship, but a genuine collaboration.“
The result:
New packing workstations, which are optimised for employees, processes and the adjacent conveyor technology - robust, modular and ergonomically designed in detail.
Practice and impact
The new packing area has been running since its introduction noticeably more structured and calmer.
The ergonomically harmonised height, clear material guidance and intelligent storage surfaces ensure smooth movement sequences.
„Efficiency-enhancing, motivating, labour-saving, well thought-out and adaptable at any time“ - this is how Cerny summarises the feedback from the team.
The employees quickly accepted the new workstations - not least because they were involved in the planning right from the start.
Today, the system allows both Standardised processes as well as flexible reactions to order peaks.
Conclusion
With the new solution, the PAC has raised its despatch processes to a new level without sacrificing humanity or flexibility.
„If we need hardware solutions in the logistics sector in the future, we will always think of NeoLog first,“ concludes Cerny.
For NeoLog, the project is an example of how Lean thinking, ergonomics and modular technology can work together if you think in terms of the process - and not the catalogue.
