Practical example of a modular workstation system in industry: packing station solution with integrated function, clear structure and ergonomic implementation.

Industrial workstation system: Packing station solution with structure - developed for real processes

How do you create a workplace system that not only fits - but works?
The answer lies in the process itself. Because in industry and logistics, structure must follow function.

As part of a new logistics building, NeoLog developed a modular packing station solution that combines all functional, ergonomic and logistical requirements in one integrated system - and consistently takes into account the technical reality on site.

Background - requirements from the application

A leading spare parts logistics company needed six manual packing stations for a new location. The aim was to structure the picking, labeling and packaging physically and digitally in such a way that the processes remain efficient, ergonomic and connectable - even with increasing complexity.

The requirements at a glance:

  • Clear separation between the comming process and weighing area
  • Defined trays for labels, cardboard boxes, shadowboards and printers
  • Integrated connection to power supply and IT systems
  • Adaptability to conveyor technology and strapping machines
  • Option for modular expansion with mobile units

The workplace system should not function in isolation - it should be embedded in existing processes.

The solution - double-command station with system logic

Based on these requirements, NeoLog developed a workplace system with a structured division of functions.
The focus is on the so-called Double comma place - a fixed unit that contains all the elements required in an industrial packaging process.

Core features:

  • Two-part worktop: right with integrated scale recess, left worktop for communal use
  • Pull-outs for printer, wastepaper basket and shadowboard under the table top
  • Height-adjustable feet for adaptation to conveyor and strapping systems
  • Adjustable shelves & dividers using sliding clamp connectors
  • Integrated power strip (SDL 8-way), monitor holder, holder for label rolls & parcel tape

All in a robust construction made of 1/2 mm tubing with steel connectors - low-maintenance, resilient, suitable for industrial use.

Supplement - Mobile system trolleys for cardboard packaging & consumables

Two mobile parcel conveyor trolleys were developed to complement the workstation system.
These are mounted on rollers, allow flexible access to various carton formats and wrapping boards and can be pulled directly to the packing station.

Advantages of the mobile supplement:

  • Flexible compartment separation thanks to adjustable inserts
  • Load capacity up to 250 kg, ideal for heavy packaging units
  • Compatible with order picking trolleys and transfer zones

This extension means that the workstation system remains scalable and can adapt to new requirements - without the need for costly conversions.

Conclusion - structure that works

This project shows how workplace systems in industry need to be designed today:
Not as a static institution - but as part of the process.

The solution follows a clear logic:

  • Functional integration instead of subsequent addition
  • Modularity instead of disposable construction
  • Ergonomics as part of the technology, not as an add-on

The packing station solution from NeoLog combines structure with function - and shows how industrial workstations can be realized in a well thought-out, robust and adaptable way.
